8 Genius Ways You Can Save Time and Money Every Week

Have you ever heard the phrase time is money?  Here are 8 ways you can save time and money every week.

I bet you spend 2 hours a week or more doing your shopping for groceries and home essentials.  If you calculate the time it takes you to drive to the store each week plus the time it takes to navigate crowds, traffic, and checkout lines it easily adds up to over two hours a week.

By implementing a couple of time management skills and money saving tips you can cut this time down to 1/4 of what it normally takes you to complete and easily stay on budget.

#1.  Automate Grocery Shopping

By automating your grocery shopping each week you find the grocery store near you that offers curbside service.  This is when you go online to the grocery stores website, select the grocery items you need for the week and tell them what time you would like to pick them up.    They have a personal shopper pull all your items from the shelf, bag it, check out, and then bring it out to your car for you!

Added Benefits

  • Stick to a budget– website calculates total as you are selecting items
  • Stick to a budget– no more last-minute temptation purchases while standing in the checkout line
  • For most stores, if you purchase over a certain amount there is no extra fee

Also, some stores offer an additional feature where they will deliver the groceries to your home.  However, they do charge more for this service.

#2.  Automate Household Supply Shopping

The same concept applies to shopping for your household items.  Make a list of everything you need for your household to run smoothly for one month.

Example of household items list:

  • toothpaste
  • shampoo
  • soap
  • dishwasher detergent
  • cleaning supplies
  • toilet paper
  • napkins

Make a set schedule once a month to order everything you will need in the quantity that you will need to last the entire month.

Go online to a retailer like Walmart once a month and order your same supplies.  If you keep it over a certain price, they will ship it to your home for free.

No more wasting time or gas on an unnecessary shopping trip.  Before you know it, your order will be on your doorstep and you never had to leave the house!

Added Benefits

  • Stick to a budget– buying in bulk for the better deal
  • Stick to a budget– compare brands and prices easily from the website
  • Save time– your list from the previous month is saved and all you must do is hit reorder for the following month

By automating these two things it saves you on gas money and hours a week.

Once you have it down to a science and know exactly how much you will need of each item per month then there are no more “quick stops” at the local store for the one thing that you are about to run out of. This is freeing up hours a week that you can spend with family or use those extra hours every week to generate more income.

Set up routines to stay organized in order to save time and money.

Don’t spend your Saturday catching up on 5 loads of clothes, washing dishes, and cleaning the house. Plan ahead and work more efficiently.

#1.  Set a time to make your weekly Meal plan list. Then hang it on the fridge so you don’t forget, three days later, what you were planning on making for dinner and end up getting fast food instead.

#2.  When you think of something you need, write it on your shopping list right then.  This way you won’t forget when you are making your monthly or weekly purchases and have to make an extra stop at the store for one item.

#3.   Stay organized in your home. If things are lost or not put where they belong, then you will be forced to waste money and buy another one all because you just misplaced it.

#4.  Clean your bathroom in 15 minutes quickly one night a week before you take your shower.

#5.  Put one load of clothes on, or start the dishwasher, every morning before leaving the house.  Then put them in the dryer or save dishes when you get home in the afternoon.  5-10 minutes each morning and in the afternoon gives you your Saturday back to do the things you really want to do!

#6.  Add a cooked rotisserie chicken to your curbside grocery list.  Then schedule your weekly grocery pickup at the end of one of your weekdays.  Boom! You just accomplished one week of grocery shopping and a cooked weeknight meal all in the 15 minutes it takes you to pull into the curbside service, park and load the groceries into the car!
