Free Netflix, Hulu, and Xbox Live Every Month

With the websites below you complete a few tasks to earn points then trade them in for either a Hulu, Netflix, Xbox Live, or Visa gift card.  With some, you can even get a cash payment through PayPal.  You can do this to pay for the services from month to month.  Or, you can do it consistently until you pay your accounts up for a year.

One excellent reward, if you have someone in your home that plays Xbox, is the yearly Xbox live gift card offered from Swagbucks.  Xbox live is normally about $10.00 per month or $100.00 per year.  But, if you save up enough SB credits on Swagbucks you can purchase a yearly subscription gift card for just 5,000 SB which is equal to $50.00.  This means your only paying $50.00 for a years subscription to Xbox Live when the monthly charge adds up to $100.00 for the year.

If free Netflix, Hulu, or Xbox live doesn’t sound good to you, then you can pick one of their many other offered gift cards.   You can even save all your points for a Christmas fund and cash out for a gift card or PayPal payment when you’re ready to do your Christmas Shopping.

Whatever your case may be these sites will not get you rich.  But, they are easy to do while watching tv, waiting at a doctor’s office, or waiting in line to pick your kids up from school.  You can sign up for all of them to maximize your gift card earnings.  Or pick and choose only the easiest task on each site with the highest payout to complete.

How to watch television for free

If the options above are just not for you.   Or you don’t have time but you still want to save money by getting rid of expensive cable.  Then some of the below options may be what you’re looking for.

Option#1 – Buy a digital antenna

If you purchase a digital antenna like this one from Amazon you can watch tv for free.  Local and Network channels are available like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and more in full HD with this antenna.  Antennas have come a long way from the days of rabbit ear antennas.  You can click here to check out the Federal Communications Commission’s free tool to see what the signal strength is in your area.

Option#2 – Free streaming services for movies and tv shows

You do have some options to stream free movies, tv shows, and documentaries.  You will not find anything newly released with any of these free offers but there is still plenty to choose from.  It is a great alternative if you are trying to save a bit more money.

Pluto TV

This is free tv you can watch from a computer, smart tv or streaming device such as Roku and Amazon Fire Tv Stick.

This works very similarly to a paid cable provider such as Directv or Cox.  There are live tv options to watch on different channels that play at certain times.  You can watch movies, news, sports channels, and food networks. There is also an on-demand library of movies to watch.  If you are someone who likes having traditional cable this is definitely something for you to check into.  I was greatly surprised with all the variety and large library of movies and episodes they offered all for free.

Roku Channel

This is a free streaming service that you can watch from a computer, phone, and tablet directly from the web.  Your other option is to purchase a Roku Device and connect it to your smart tv.  Currently, select Samsung Smart Tv’s or a Roku Smart Tv are the only two that you can watch the Roku Channel from without purchasing a Roku Device. They even have a Roku Express device which can connect to an older tv to stream these for free.  From the Roku Channel, you can watch a variety of free movies such as comedies, box office hits, and big screen classics.  They also offer free 24/7 news from ABC News live, People TV live, Live Sports, and more.

You can try it out on a computer or phone first to see if you like it before deciding if you want to purchase a Roku Device for your tv.  If you do end up purchasing a Roku Device for your tv you can then watch the Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and Sony Crackle from this one device if you don’t already have the capabilities with your tv.

Sony Crackle

This is similar to the two above options.  They offer free movies and episodes but no sports or news.  You can stream by using a Roku Device, Android phone, PS3, Xbox, Apple TV, or iPhone.  Or, you can also watch it online from a computer.  They even have a parent control option.  This allows you to turn mature rated content off from your account.  You can make a personal list also with movies and episodes that you want to watch.

Final Thoughts

My suggestion is if you are someone who wants to be able to watch live news and new episodes when they are broadcast to a network such as ABC or CBS without a monthly bill then invest in a one-time purchase of a digital antenna and a Roku Device.  You can use the digital antenna to watch your current entertainment.  Then when you are in the mood to watch a movie hop over to Pluto TV, Roku Channel, or Sony Crackle and watch one for free with their on-demand features. Or you can watch previously released episodes of tv shows.
