Instant Pot Ground Beef and Potatoes

Equipment

  • Pressure Cooker - Instant Pot

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs. Ground Beef
  • 2 lbs. Potatoes
  • 4 Heaping Spoonfuls Dark Roux
  • 1 Cup Diced Onion and Bell Peppers
  • 1 Tbsp. Morton Nature Seasoning blend of salt, pepper, onion powder, & garlic powder mixture
  • 1 Tbsp. Tony Chachere's Seasoning Creole Season All
  • 2 Cups Chicken Broth
  • 4 Cups Water

Instructions
 

  • First, put Instant Pot on saute mode (high).
  • Next, add ground beef,seasoning, and diced onions and bell peppers. Saute just until there is no pinkleft in the meat.
  • Then drain any remaining grease from the Instant Pot.
  • Next add your 2 cups of chicken broth, 4 cups of water, and 4 spoonfuls of roux.
  • Keep your Instant Pot on saute mode, stir to dissolve roux, and boil for 30 minutes.
  • Next, add your diced potatoes to the Instant Pot.
  • Close the lid and turn the steam release valve to the “sealing” position.
  • Then press the “Pressure Cook” button.  Next, press the “Pressure Level” button until you have selected “High Pressure”.
  • Turn the timer on for 15 minutes.
  • Then, once the timer has completed let it do a natural release of pressure for 10 minutes.  Then do a quick release of any remaining pressure.   **Warning – The steam is very hot, use a towel to turn the release valve so it does not burn you.
  • Finally, your Instant PotGround Beef and Potatoes are ready to be served.  You can eat them just like this or serve it over rice!
