Instant Pot Hamburgers in Duo Crisp Plus Air Fryer

These Instant Pot Hamburgers are the absolute best hamburgers I have ever eaten!!!! They have a crispy outer texture and are moist and juicy on the inside.  We used a combination of avocado oil spray and our favorite go-to cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere’s) to get the delicious crunchy outer texture.  I mixed some Tony Chachere’s and Natures Seasoning Blend into the ground meat to form the patties first.  Then before cooking, I sprayed the outside of the burgers with the Avocado Oil Spray and sprinkled a little more Tony Chachere’s  (on the outside of the burgers) so it would give them a crispy well-seasoned flavor!!!

How do you use Instant Pot Duo Crisp and Air Fryer?

The Instant Pot Duo Crisp and Air Fryer is my second Instant Pot.  I originally used the Instant Pot Duo 8qt for pressure cooking and slow cooker meals.  A few months ago I purchased my second Instant Pot…. The Instant Pot Duo Crisp and Air Fryer.  I love it!

You can do everything that the original Instant Pot does plus you get a second lid which is the air fryer lid plus an air fryer basket.  Alternatively, you could just purchase an air fryer lid for your Instant Pot and get the same results also.  You would also have to purchase the air fryer basket to go with it too.

I love it because I can pressure cook any food like a whole chicken or chicken legs and then take the pressure cooker lid off and replace it with the air fryer lid and make the outer skin nice and crispy.  Plus, you can cook only air fryer recipes using this lid in the same Instant Pot!  In my opinion, the Instant Pot Duo Crisp plus Air Fryer is definitely worth the investment.

Instructions – Instant Pot Hamburgers in Duo Crisp plus Air Fryer Lid

#1.  First, mix your seasoning of choice and raw ground meat to form your hamburger patties.  Press your thumb down into the middle of each patty to stop them from puffing up in the middle while cooking.

#2.  Next, attach the base/stand to the bottom of your Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer Basket.  Then place your metal stand inside of the basket and place them into your Instant Pot.  Lightly spray your metal stand and the inside of your air fryer basket with your avocado oil spray.

#3.  Place your raw hamburger patties on top of your metal stand.  We sprinkle a little more Tony Chachere’s Seasoning on top of the burgers and then lightly spray them with the Avocado oil.  This will make the outsides of your burgers have a delicious crispy flavor!

#4.  Then place your air frying lid on top of your Instant Pot.

#5.  Select the air fry option and set the temperature at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

#6.  Your Instant Pot will display “Flip Food” across the screen when it is time to flip your burgers.  We flip them, sprinkle a little Tony Chachere’s on the now flipped side, and lightly spray it with avocado oil spray.  Then place the air fryer lid back on to continue cooking.

#7.  After the timer has completed, we check our burgers with a digital meat thermometer to make sure they have reached their required internal temperature.  We like our burgers well done.

#8.  Dress your burgers with your toppings of choice and enjoy!  Just a suggestion….. we mix mayonnaise and ketchup together for a delicious sauce and use Hawaiian Sweet Burger Buns.  Also, we spread butter on the inside of our burger buns and put them in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes.  The combination is delicious!!!

I have the 6 qt instapot and am considering the fryer lid
    I don’t understand the following?
    1) attach the base/stand to the bottom of your Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer Basket
what is the base/stand? I have a trivet, but it does not attach?
    2) place your metal stand inside of the basket and place them into your Instant Pot.
what is the metal stand? and the air fryer baskets that I see on amazon are mesh? your picture makes it look solid?

    thanks

      1. The base/stand is the grey air fryer basket with the “feet” underneath it in the picture above near the ingredients. It is two pieces that you put together. The air fryer basket snaps into the “feet” or base.
      2. That air fryer basket and base/stand along with the metal trivet came with my Instant Pot Duo Crisp. I would think that you could use any trivet with just the air fryer lid and it would turn out just fine. Maybe adjust the temp and time accordingly since the hamburger patties will not be as close to the air fryer lid without the basket/stand and trivet that I used. If using just the trivet your hamburger patties will sit lower in your Instant Pot.
      Hope that helps! 🙂

We’ve had a 6 quart instant pot for years and just yesterday got the 8 quart Instant Pot with the air fryer. We were a little intimidated at first but decided to go ahead and try it tonight. We’ve cooked a lot of stuff just to see how it went. Look in the fridge and say I wonder if you can do this in there :D. So I came on looking to see if you could cook a hamburger and found you!
I was confused by the, “attach the base stand to the fryer basket”. Turns out it was already on it. I don’t know if it came that way or if hubby put it on. In any event, we figured that out after cooking them. So whew.
They came out great and we appreciate that you took the time to post this! Thank you!

I will have to try these! They look yummy! I have been thinking about a second IP and a second Air Fryer so why not save money and get one that does both, right?! I had to chuckle when you said you mixed Mayo and ketchup together to make a yummy sauce. I grew up in Utah and we call that ‘fry sauce’ and it originated in Utah back in the 40’s. It’s famous there and in Idaho. Everyone else looks at me funny when I ask for it lol 😀
