Instant Pot Chicken Lo Mein

This one-pot Instant Pot Chicken Lo Mein Recipe is very quick and easy to make.  We added some of our favorite cajun/creole seasoning Tony Chachere’s to this recipe to give it some extra flavor!

I only used 8 oz of linguine noodles and ended up with a lot of sauce.  If you like a lot of noodles you can probably use 16 oz (which would have been the whole box) also and it would have turned out just as good also.

Can you put dry noodles in an Instant Pot?

Yes, you can put dry noodles in an Instant Pot!  We cook many different one pot meals in our Instant Pot with the noodles cooked in the same pot at the same time.  Your noodles will absorb the flavor of the juices and make them taste so much better than if you boiled them in water first on the stove.   We use Linguine Noodles in our Lo Mein recipes.

Instructions – Instant Pot Chicken Lo Mein

#1.  First, place your chicken broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, and 1 tbsp. Tony Chachere’s in your Instant Pot and give it a stir.  Please Note – I also let my frozen broccoli and matchstick carrots defrost sitting on a plate on my kitchen counter while the rest of the meal is pressure cooking in my Instant Pot.  Then when you toss them in as the last step it does not take as long for them to heat up.

#2.  Next add your diced chicken.

#3.  Then break you Linguine noodles into sections of three.  Toss them on top of the chicken in a messy fashion.  If you put them in just as they come out of the box (lying next to each other) they will get stuck together.

#4.  Then close the lid and turn the steam release valve to the “sealing” position.

#5.  Next, press the pressure cook button.  Then press pressure level button until high pressure is selected.   Set the timer for 5 minutes.

#6.  After the timer has completed turn the steam release valve to “venting” for a quick release of steam.   **Warning – The steam is very hot, use a towel to turn the release valve so it does not burn you.

#7.  Open the lid and toss in your carrots and broccoli.  Stir it together and close the lid for a few more minutes to let the heat, warm up your broccoli and carrots.  Your meal is ready serve after this!

Very good, I would leave out the creole seasoning or use less, it had too much of a bite. Also very liquidy, had to add corn starch. I’m going to make it again and add mushrooms and pork instead of chicken

Super yummy and easy! I did make a few changes to use what I had on hand.
I substituted the Hoisin sauce for Veri Veri Teriyaki marinade and sauce (SoyVay).
I also used a frozen back of stir fry veggies instead of the carrots and broccoli (it included carrots & broccoli).
And I also tossed in a few dashes of onion powder and garlic powder in addition… because I put those in everything! Yum!
I took the suggestion of the other commenter and did not include the creole seasoning.
I took your suggestion and did 16oz of noodles. After I quick released the pressure and added the veggies, I put the instant pot on sauté to keep it hot while I added corn starch to thicken the sauce up. I took about 4 table spoons of liquid out, added 2 table spoons of corn starch and stirred until the cornstarch dissolved. Then added the liquid corn starch mixture back to the pot and stirred for a couple minutes until it started to thicken. Then I turned the instant pot off and served.
Yum yum yum!!! Will be adding this to my quick meal list!

I was getting tired of normal pasta with cheese and creams and tomato sauce and thought what else can I do? Delicious!!! I will be definitely making again. Thank you!

Delicious!!! I used 2 packs lo mien egg noodles instead of regular noodles. My family loves the noodles! There was not any juices or sauce left at the end of the cook cycle but it still tasted awesome. I also sautéed my onions and garlic in the instant pot first and then set them aside and added them back in with the broccoli, carrots, and snap peas in the end.

Thank you for the recipe, it’s definitely a keeper in our house. The only thing I would change is maybe adding more sauce in the beginning….especially with the extra noodles ☺️

Made this tonight exactly as written. My husband and I both thought it was delicious! The sauce was tasty but too liquid. Should I have put cornstarch in at some point? Thank you for this quick yummy recipe.
